JOB SUMMARY: This is a time limited assignment not-to-exceed 1-year, that may be extended up to a maximum of 5 years or made permanent without further competition or terminated at management discretion. At the end of the assignment you will be returned to a position equivalent in tenure and grade as your former position. MAJOR DUTIES: As a Supervisory Hydrologic Technician within the Oklahoma Texas Water Science Center, some of your specific duties will include: Meet with Federal, State, and local water-resource planning and management agencies. Train, instruct, and advise all office personnel in the proper methods used for the collection and evaluation of hydrologic data. Serve as an expert in new instrumentation technology. Answer requests for hydrologic data from cooperators, consulting engineers, and the general public. Personally perform and review the more complex flood measurements and determinations of peak-flows. Physical Demands: The position requires moderate periods of standing and sitting while in the office. While in the field, considerable walking, lifting, bending, climbing, stream wading, or working in motorized watercraft is necessary to collect data. Work Environment: Office conditions do not require special safety precautions; field conditions may include extreme heat or cold, rain or snow; hazardous conditions such as ice or flooding; or exposure to irritant or toxic chemicals.
