JOB SUMMARY: This position is located in Bryce Canyon National Park in the Visitor Services Division. The position may be filled at either GS-7 or GS-9, with a Full Performance Level of GS-09. MAJOR DUTIES: Major Duties: Create a wide variety of digital interpretive media exhibits, products and services that ensure a greater understanding of park resources. Create and edit visual and written content for the park website, mobile app, and social media accounts. Create, edit, and organize digital assets including videos, photographs, and audio recordings. Stay abreast and continue to apply emerging technologies, relevancy/diversity/inclusion principles, and accessibility standards. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level. Promotion to the full performance level is neither guaranteed nor implied and will be based solely on your ability to satisfactorily perform the work of the position, existing work at the higher grade level, and recommendation by the position's supervisor. Physical Demands: The work is normally sedentary and requires long periods of stationary work at a computer workstation. Work also requires moderate physical exertion fabricating exhibits and signs, working from ladders, and lifting and working with maintenance staff installing signs and exhibits. Field visits are necessary for on-site inspection of phases of the production of a visual product. The incumbent occasionally must lift moderately heavy objects and operates hand tools and power tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, levels, rivet guns, saws, drills, etc. Working Conditions: Work is normally performed in a typical office setting, however, when work is performed outside the office, it may be in field environments or at dirty, dusty, cold, hot, wet or some otherwise uncomfortable locations indoors and outdoors, where the exhibit or display is located. Work involves moderate risks or discomforts such as working with power tools. Career-Seasonal: This position is designated as Career-Seasonal. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. In this position you will work from approximately September through July, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year unless other work exists that can be assigned to during this period. Though non-pay time may be reduced, you will still be placed in non-pay status for a minimum of 1 pay period each year in accordance with NPS policy.
