To meet the increasing demand of our expertise in now the Industrial projects we have opportunities for Mechanical Design Engineers with experience ranging from 10 – 15 years in mechanical design to join the Industrial team at our AtkinsRéalis Mumbai office.

We are particularly interested in individuals with reasonable consultancy experience in mechanical design, production of mechanical specifications, and a familiarity with design codes and standards. Previous Industrial or Power experience is desirable, but not essential, particularly with suitable demonstration of experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g. Oil and Gas).

Responsibilities:

The work is varied and may include some or all of the responsibilities mentioned below:

Provide comprehensive technical support across all phases of the project lifecycle, encompassing conceptual and detailed design packages, option, design development, and concept evaluation.
Validate and modify technical drawings, layouts, and both 2D and 3D representations as needed to ensure accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Block Flow Diagrams (BFD), and succinctly summarize the process into key phases.
Collaborate with process engineering to analyze the overall process, identify bottlenecks, and validate mass balance and material flow.
Generate essential project deliverables, including summary reports, change management workflows, utility consumption lists, and equipment specification lists.
Identify potential hurdles and risks that may impact project timelines and proactively address them.
Contribute to Design/Project Coordination activities, taking a lead role in interdisciplinary coordination meetings. Record actionable items post-meetings and diligently follow up with discipline leads.
Establish effective communication channels with all stakeholders, taking ownership of all technical issues within the designated area of specialization. Coordinate with other discipline specialists to address areas of interface or overlap.
Actively witness pre-commissioning/commissioning activities conducted by contractors/vendors and meticulously review and produce all relevant documentation.

Candidate should possess the following qualifications, skills and experience:

Suitable degree in Mechanical engineering/ Industrial Engineering.
Experience in Lithium Ion Battery/ Cell production or other highly regulated industrial environment is highly preferred.
Understanding of key aspects of the battery value/ supply chain and respective stakeholders.
Experience in mechanical design and assessment.
Demonstrable knowledge of design projects, or relevant knowledge of process plant operations is desirable.
Ability to carry out detailed design, analysis and review others work.
Experience of providing strong technical advice and guidance on mechanical engineering design to the client.
Strong delivery culture, maintaining strict timelines is must.
Proven computer aptitude, and expertise in MS office, SharePoint, AutoCAD. PowerBI.
Understanding of other relevant engineering disciplines like electrical, safety in design, HAZOP.
Familiar with international design codes and standards (such as: ASME BPVC Section III, RCC- M, ASME B31.1, BS EN 13480 and BS EN13445) and recommended practices pertaining to mechanical design, fabrication, installation, inspection, testing, quality assurance and quality control etc.
Ability to work independently or as part of team, flexible attitude to the type of work and the level of responsibility accepted.
Experience in design management of mechanical systems for single and multi-disciplinary projects.
Experience or exposure to project management principles desirable.
Ability to understand and define client’s requirements, plan & schedule deliverables, timelines.
Proven strong problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills with a proven ability to write accurate, detailed and concise technical reports (e.g., design substantiations, basis of analysis, safety case support references).
Flexible to relocate to Bangalore; flexible in travelling to Atkins’ and client’s office locations around the world, if required.
