Job Summary:

The Safety Director will develop, coordinate, and implement occupational health policies and procedures to promote and ensure effective safety operations in the organization for all four locations: Chattanooga, TN; Hartford, AL; Romulus, MI; and Phoenix, AZ. He/she will report directly to the President. Safety Director will work closely as a member of the Operations Support Team to generate improvements and communicate effectively throughout the organization.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Ensure OSHA safety logs are maintained, and other administrative requirements related to safety operations and regulations.
Develop strong relationships with safety representative at each location and provide guidance/leadership.
Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
Eliminates any potential operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment.
Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards.
Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
Reviews accident and incident reports.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Report consolidated safety results to the executive team monthly.
Work closely with Workman’s Compensation insurance to manage claims

Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to conduct training.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Certified in Forklift operating (ability to train the trainer and test employees)

Education and Experience:

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times.

Other Requirements:

Position will be located at either Chattanooga, TN or Hartford, AL (two largest employers).
Ability to travel throughout all facilities on a routine basis to conduct safety inspections and support ongoing safety improvement projects.

Schedule:

Monday – Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
