PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating, through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We are a growing organization seeking a talented Environmental Advisor to join our team as a pivotal member here at PBF Energy. This role is located at Torrance Refining Company in Torrance, CA.

Job Summary

The Environmental Advisor is responsible for helping the refinery maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and promoting continuous improvement in environmental performance. This includes compliance with monitoring, recordkeeping and reporting. This individual will work directly with groups within the refinery, including operators and contractors, to ensure day-to-day compliance through rule strategy and procedure development, compliance training, and monitoring of field activities.

Key Responsibilities

Subject Matter Expert of relevant (Refinery) local (SCAQMD), state (CARB) and federal regulations (40 CFR 60, 61, 63 and 70), and ensure day-to-day compliance
Serve as point of contact for appropriate government agencies
Create, review, and update relevant reports, procedures, and compliance strategies
Support specific groups within the refinery to monitor compliance, drive continuous improvement, identify, and resolve issues, and promote effective interactions
Present relevant information to Refinery Leadership Team members and to the Operations Team Organizations
Provide appropriate training to refinery personnel and contractors, through computer-based modules or face-to-face training
Participate in routine meetings as a member of the Environmental Department

Job Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Environmental or Chemical) preferred
Solid understanding of the relevant local, state and federal regulations and how they apply to a refinery
Basic understanding of refinery operations and some familiarity of refinery data collection systems, environmental procedures and reporting requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with agency personnel
Ability to communicate well with various levels of employees and management, and work effectively in a team environment
Strong computer skills (Microsoft) with the ability to learn new computer applications
Experience with multiple aspects of environmental compliance perspective a plus, as is experience working with management systems

The salary range for this position is $84,617.04- $140,327.13. The compensation range listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, job-related skills and internal peer equity will be considered in determining the selected candidate’s compensation. Salaries at the time of hire are typically in the lower to middle portion of the above range in order to provide the opportunity to reflect future performance-based increases. In addition to salary, PBF offers a comprehensive and generous benefits package.
