The State of Indiana

About Us

Striving to keep Hoosiers from harm, the Indiana Department of Insurance (IDOI) enforces the state's insurance laws and generally oversees the conduct of almost 2,000 insurance companies and 100,000 agents doing business in Indiana. IDOI's regulatory activities include review of policies, investigation of complaints, maintaining the financial integrity of the state's insurance industry, and the approval of continuing education courses for agents. IDOI also regulates other entities involved with insurance, such as health-maintenance organizations and medical claims review agents. The agency has a $110 million annual budget.
