Our client delivers large-scale renewable energy projects across Australia and New Zealand, with a strong focus on safety, environmental stewardship and community responsibility. As they progress construction of a Solar Farm project, they are seeking an Environmental Advisor on a 12-month fixed term basis to lead environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and ESG reporting across the project lifecycle.

This is a hands-on, site-based role where you will work closely with contractors, regulators, and the wider project team to ensure best-practice environmental performance and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Environmental Compliance & Risk Management:

Lead the implementation and monitoring of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
Ensure compliance with resource consents, environmental legislation and company standards.
Conduct environmental inspections, manage incidents, and implement corrective actions.
Prepare environmental reports and facilitate regulatory and client audits.

Sustainability & ESG:

Develop and oversee site waste management strategies to reduce waste and increase recycling.
Support ESG reporting requirements, including waste, energy and greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1, 2 and 3).
Track sustainability performance through dashboards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Liaise with regulatory authorities, contractors and community stakeholders.
Deliver environmental awareness training and promote sustainable practices across the site.

What We’re Looking for:

A degree in Environmental Science, sustainability or a related discipline (desirable).
Strong knowledge of New Zealand environmental legislation and planning regulations.
Understanding of sustainability practices and greenhouse gas reporting.
Proven experience in environmental compliance, sustainability or related roles.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including reporting experience.
Strong planning and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverables.
Confident relationship-building skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
Initiative, sound judgement and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic project environment.

You’ll be someone who is action-oriented, solutions-focused and comfortable managing ambiguity in a construction setting. You take ownership, instil trust, and are motivated to drive meaningful environmental outcomes on a high-profile renewable energy project.
