We are currently seeking a Sustainability Design Specialist to join our firm who is passionate about sustainable design and devoted to quality. This position can be based in out of any LS3P office.

A Day in the Life:

Initiates sustainable and resilient design concepts and provide innovative strategic sustainability collaboration and leadership on interiors, architecture, and master plan projects.
Facilitates OPR & Sustainable Design Charrettes by navigating topics relating to high performance design, net zero energy, carbon, water, IAQ, material health, waste, biophilia, and other opportunities available for the project.
Creates powerful story telling narratives through data driven & analysis-based design strategies that promote high building performance and human health centered design and wellness in collaboration with design teams.
Engages in future climate considerations of resilient passive design first and active systems second approach with expertise in sustainability design, research, writing and in practice.
Asists clients, engineers, and contractors with understanding and coordination of sustainability objectives (internally and externally) towards defined design metrics and outcomes, internally and externally.
Works closely with Project Managers and Project Designers to manage green ratings task budgets and certification schedules, including design and consulting team member delegations, estimating certification fees, determining scope of work, and task proposal preparation.
Works with firmwide Sustainability Leader, and Sustainability core Integrate leadership on sustainability initiatives as subject matter expert.
Facilitates sustainability quality control and review of holistic integration in projects at all phases in collaboration with design and project teams.

Your Strengths as a Sustainability Design Specialist:

Understands 3rd party rating systems and facilitates project certifications for LEED, Green Globes, WELL, Fitwel, Living Building Challenge, Passive House, ZERH, NGBRS and EnergyStar compliance, and/or other systems on behalf of design team. Serves as the primary resource for technical and documentation requirements.
Understanding of energy modeling, daylight analysis, life cycle, materiality, carbon, and building commissioning process.
Strong organization, multi-tasking, and time management skills, understanding of financial return on investment; grant and funding opportunities for best sustainable practices; local, state, and national.
Strong design, graphic, verbal and presentation skills.
Understanding of the design and procurement processes.
Proficiency in Revit Insight analysis, Cove Tool, LCA, Wufi, and/or LCCA familiarity.
Excellent communication skills and a strong team ethic.
Ability to interact professionally with office leadership and clients.
Ability to direct and motivate work efforts of others and handle stressful situations.
Ability to self-manage project assignments from start to finish with oversight.
Ability to take a resilient approach and willingness to learn emerging sustainable practices.
Fosters awareness of and assists in advancing design excellence through integration of responsible and sustainable practice.
Good team member who fosters a positive work environment.
Develops strong relationships within the firm, with our clients and in our communities.
Desire to mentor others in this constantly evolving and emerging field regarding sustainability/resiliency topics, intersections of site, climate, and building science.

What You Bring To The Table:

Possession of a strong moral and ethical responsibility to the principles of sustainability.
LEED AP accreditation is required (or ability to acquire LEED accreditation) and/or other sustainability accreditations with similar rigor; additional accreditations are a plus.
4+ years of experience in an architecture, interior, or urban design firm setting is preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or equivalent field of study.

A cover letter, resume and portfolio demonstrating Revit skills, written communication skills, diagramming and rendering abilities are required.
