Under the direction of the Director, External Affairs, this position is responsible for monitoring and analyzing federal and state public policies related to energy and environmental affairs with a focus on engagement with policymakers, regulators and the public on environmental justice and community energy issues. How you will make an impact: Advise senior management on policy and industry trends related to energy industry impacts on the environment and local communities. Work with the ISO’s team of state policy advisors, prioritize and develop community outreach activities. Serve as staff liaison for environmental and community affairs to the Consumer Liaison Group and identify additional outreach and educational opportunities Point of contact for environmental and community groups Subject matter expert to internal business units to ensure that staff has an awareness of environmental policies and their potential intersection with the ISO’s roles and responsibilities Cultivate relationships with environmental organizations and community leaders, advocates and other associated stakeholders What you need to be successful in this role: Bachelor’s degree in political science, environmental science, public relations, communications or related field Five+ years of related experience in the energy industry; state or federal public policy Working knowledge of ISO New England, its role, mission and vision, and its critical responsibilities Familiarity with the state and federal regulatory energy environment in which ISO New England operates, including an understanding of the jurisdictional lines between state and federal energy regulation and between wholesale and retail energy Firsthand knowledge of energy and environmental issues in New England Experience working with and building bridges to community groups Ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential material and issues Ability to prepare written content that communicates technical information in formats intended for the general public Interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of management both internally & externally Excellent organization and planning skills *In addition to submitting your resume please also include a cover letter. #LI-HYBRID
