Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Manager - Compliance

The opportunity

Working within the Compliance Team and collaborating with all business areas within the Organisation, this is an opportunity to help shape, develop and implement processes and systems which will lead to and drive a progressive and proactive culture. Reporting to the Head of Compliance and working within the Operations Team, you will contribute directly to defining and creating a SHE management system which will both support the business and key stakeholders. You will help build capability within the organisation by creating systems and processes which can be readily cascaded and supported by a small team.

Success in this role requires excellent people skills and customer focus, knowledge of electric vehicles would be an advantage.

Your knowledge on H&S legislation will underpin your ability to effectively engage stakeholders to ensure compliance and help to drive a positive safety culture through the organization at every level. You should have great interpersonal skills and be able to support the wider team by utilizing your knowledge and experience to help problem solve and implement solutions at pace. You should be well motivated and have the capability to work using your own initiative to support company objectives and milestones by managing your time and workload accordingly.

What you’ll do

Key responsibilities will include:

Development and implementation of a safety, health & environmental management system
Identify gaps in current processes and support necessary action plans to resolve
Lead, coach, support and provide expert technical advice on all matters relating to SHE and associated regulatory compliance.
Lead and support in the implementation of any relevant ISO accreditations
Create policies and procedures to ensure legislative compliance and recognised industry standards for the organisation.
Manage and coordinate compliance audits, including liaising with external contractors
Promoting a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation
Support in the annual planning and budgeting for all SHE activities
Drive key programs such as Near Miss reporting and employee engagement for SHE

Define KPI’s and measure/report on performance
You will be able to clearly communicate SHE requirements to the team & stakeholders

Who you are...

NEBOSH qualified in health, safety and environment or similar, industry recognised qualification
5+ years of experience working as a H&S Manager or equivalent
Experience implementing ISO management systems
Excellent communication and written skills in order to work with, provide advice to, train, and promote excellence in Health and Safety to all staff
Ability to engage internal and external stakeholders, including at a senior level
Ability to travel to sites away from your home base
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Manufacturing or engineering background would be desirable.
Ability to work tactically in a ‘hands on’ environment but also be very strategic and proven experience with annual planning
