JOB SUMMARY: The Safety Intern’s primary objective is to further develop and advance the company’s EHS program. This person is responsible for assisting with a variety of Environmental, Health, and Safety tasks as they relate to the manufacturing industry.

MAJOR DUTIES:

Assist/conduct ergonomic assessments and improvements.
Assist/conduct industrial hygiene sampling.
Conduct regulatory safety and environmental audits and develop reports with corrective actions.
Assist with job hazard assessments.
Coordination of EHS projects.
Participate in the company safety committee.
Coordinate/assist/conduct/develop EHS training for employees.
Assist with incident investigations.
Participate/Assist in department safety toolbox talks/touch points.
Assist in promoting safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations and company requirements.
Assist in maintaining safety records.
Assist in general oversight for all Environmental, Health, & Safety related matters throughout the organization.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Should be in the process of obtaining/has obtained an Environmental, Health, & Safety or related educational degree.
Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal format individually and in group settings.
Ability to work independently on multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
Excellent organizational/time management skills.
Desire to think cognitively and work through problems.
Ability to conduct root cause analysis.
Ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, adversity, and constant change.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Some bending and twisting are required. Routine duties will occasionally require lifting approximately 10-20 pounds (and periodically heavier loads.)
