JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish & achieve annual Health & Safety goals & objectives in partnership with company leadership.

Create annual Training plan and schedule for Safety and Environmental requirements
Lead safety training for new hires as part of structured orientation process
Lead safety and environmental training sessions per annual plan and schedule
Develop and administer effective occupational health, safety, and ergonomics programs
Educate, motivate and train line supervision and production personnel in good housekeeping practices, safe work procedures, PPE, etc.
Assist the line organization in developing risk assessments (JSA’s) and safe operating procedures for tasks and investigating incidents.
Manage worker’s comp issues and facilitate return to work strategies.
Administer and facilitate employee participation safety programs including internal audits, safety committee meetings, employee safety observations, and employee incentive programs.
Lead and assist in conducting effective root cause analyses for incidents and trends, ensuring corrective actions stemming from incidents are closed in a timely fashion.
Administer regulatory reporting, collecting and analyzing safety data and reporting metrics and findings to the business.
Collaborate with others in the design and development of work areas and work procedures and make health and safety recommendations accordingly.
Maintain current awareness of applicable federal, state and local health, industrial hygiene and safety regulations, supporting leadership in ensuring compliance.
Partner with engineering and operations to ensure safety procedures and practices are developed, documented, and training completed for all new work products and equipment.
Work with manufacturing, engineering, and Director of Capital & Special Projects to recommend, develop, and manage capital projects related to site safety.
Facilitate hazard assessments for a variety of initiatives, including machine safety, walking-working surfaces, and ergonomics, identifying and recommending appropriate risk control measures necessary to eliminate or minimize hazards.
Assist with development of safe job analysis/procedures, ensuring job-specific safety-related training specifics are outlined and effectively completed for all current and newly placed employees for each role, maintaining all records for procedures and training.
Maintain the Facility Emergency Response Plan, including ensuring applicable training and drill completion.
Administer the plant hazard communication program, including maintaining SDS inventory in online system: effective identification of all chemicals, chemical inventory and related training and education programs.
Administer and manage industrial hygiene monitoring of employees.
Assist HR in OSHA record keeping and maintaining applicable logs where necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

3-5 years Health, Safety, and Environmental management.
Successful applicants will possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to foster positive relationships with production employees, peers, manufacturing management, and other levels within the organization.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must be a self-starter, and able to work with minimal supervision.
Strong and persistent drive to deliver positive results.
Intermediate skills with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Excellent time and project management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to lead through influence

Previous experience with safety in a manufacturing environment preferred and/or knowledge of safety management systems and applicable OSHA regulations.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Typical office demands.
Must be able to lift and maneuver up to fifty (50) pounds.
Routinely communicates face-to-face, via telephone and by computer.
Must be able to walk a ½ mile without difficulty, bend, reach and lift 15lbs to shoulder height.
Must be able to reach overhead and below the knees including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
Must be able to stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time or for an entire work shift.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment.
Exposure to manufacturing conditions, which includes, but is not limited to, loud noise, variable temperatures, concrete floors and dust.
