Environmental Planning

Description

Primary duties of the NEPA Environmental Planner are to provide technical NEPA guidance; preparation of NEPA documents, preparation, planning, managing, and/or analysis/review of technical studies; other writing assignments as necessary; assistance with public outreach activities; and oversight of all aspects of environmental projects including scope, schedule, and budget.

Essential Functions and Requirements:

Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of small to large multidiscipline projects with a high degree of technical complexity.
Prepare and review technical analyses and documents, proposals and/or qualifications information.
Perform financial management of environmental planning, permitting and compliance tasks and projects.
Provide support and expertise for environmental planning and permitting.
Maintain an understanding of emerging regulations and industry requirements.
Work closely with business development and project delivery teams to win and deliver projects.
Developing execution strategies for planning and permitting projects
Mentoring staff to expand their understanding of technical and business aspects.

The incumbent must be able to operate a computer and other office machinery, operate a motor vehicle, move about to accomplish tasks, have the ability to repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers and transport items weighing 20 pounds or less to move items from one area to another.

Travel:

Occasional local and occasional overnight travel may be required.

Work Environment:

Occasional visits to project areas and exposure to outdoor elements, rough terrain, and extreme temperatures may be required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or related field
Three years of experience in the environmental field
Three years of NEPA experience
Knowledge of the Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act
A valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or related field
