Job description –Modelling Consultant / Senior Consultant (Electricity market, Renewables)

AFRY Management Consulting is seeking to hire Consultant / Senior Consultant to join our Energy markets team in Beijing. This is a mid-level opportunity to join a dynamic team working on some of the most challenging issues in energy markets in China and globally.

Your role will require you to provide modelling and cutting-edge analysis on China’s energy markets (and others globally), lead project teams and analysis, and interact directly with a wide range of clients including major financial investors, international developers, utilities, government, and regulatory bodies.

Main responsibilities:

• Work within international, multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of electricity and renewable market consultancy engagements, with a focus on China power market modelling (under the supervision from UK modelling team);
• Manage projects and project teams under supervision of Project Supervisor;
• Lead on project report and content delivery, with assistance from project team;
• Interact directly with clients in English and Chinese, explaining/discussing project approach and outputs and providing industry insights;
• Conduct market research and analysis on a broad range of energy (electricity and renewable) sector topics;
• Support in the development of materials for competitive bids and work with team members on proposals and pitch presentations.

Qualifications/experience:

• At least three years of industry experience in utilities, consulting or finance, with an acute understanding of China energy market dynamics and regulatory landscape;
• Experience with electricity market modelling (such as with PLEXOS or other software / tools) is desirable;
• Experience of managing complex projects delivering market analysis / due diligence / strategic advice on China’s electricity or renewable energy market;
• Excellent presentation skills are essential;
• Fluent written and spoken English and (Mandarin) Chinese;
• Excellent skills with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Our team members often have master’s degree in Economics, Finance, or Engineering from a leading university, but we also welcome candidates from other relevant backgrounds.
