OVERVIEW
The New Homes (NH) Lead Field Technician is a key team member of the New Homes organization at Sunrun. The role is mainly responsible for preparing new homes during the rough-in phase of construction to be ready for the solar installation by the solar install crews at a later stage during the home construction process. Additionally, the NH Lead Field Tech may troubleshoot other field related issues during the home construction life cycle including solar system commissioning while functioning as the ears and eyes in the field for the Builder Field Manager. The role is an individual-contributing role that requires the ability to perform independently while being part of the larger home builder construction community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Process all work orders as assigned via the scheduling team
Review inventory at loading dock to ensure assigned crew truck is stocked adequately
Confirm design matches project to be installed
Layout rooftop per design and install racking mounts
Prewire all electrical rough-in components per design
Troubleshoot and/or commission solar systems after installation by the install crew as needed
Communicate daily with manager on progress, issues and production
Submit job status updates with end-of-day photo documentation
Maintain personal and job site safety at all times
Interface with senior builder construction leaders and other construction tradespersons
Ensure a clean and orderly job site at all times
Perform project clean up including client site and installation vehicle
Maintain assigned company vehicles and assets
Participate in mandatory training sessions on new products, installation methodology and safety
QUALIFICATIONS
Basic knowledge of residential electrical systems
Regular, reliable and predictable attendance required
High School or Trade School degree in a discipline related to construction or building sciences
Must be able to lift heavy objects (50 lbs. or more) in addition to climbing ladders and working in high places (residential roof tops).
Valid Driver’s license
Ability to travel between job sites
2+ years solar or construction experience
Apprentice level or higher
Troubleshooting or Service level experience
Preferred Requirements
OSHA 10 Certification (can be obtained during the onboarding process)
Understanding of NEC or local building codes with emphasis on residential new construction or PV installations
Proficient in the installation of grid-tied and micro inverter applications.

1+ year of solar installation, electrical experience and knowledge of new homes residential construction
Associates degree

Communication: Ability to interact with construction workers from homebuilder and other construction trades as well as coworkers in a courteous and professional manner

Works independently, but as a team player on the job site and within the New Homes team, and drives results in a fast paced, team based environment. Must be willing to assist teammates and build strong relationships to achieve company and department goals
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance)
Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces which requires frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance
Ability to climb ladders
Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions including but not limited to: excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environment, and humidity
Ability to frequently utilize hand functions requiring fine motor skills, including but not limited to: fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching
Ability to work within the safe range of equipment such as ladders, fall protection harnesses and other personal protective equipment
Ability to work and maintain balance on roofs and other areas of height
Ability to work in the sun and possibly low light conditions
Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without damage
Ability to distinguish colors such as red, black, yellow, white, green
Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces which requires kneeling and crouching
Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings
Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protections

Starting salary/wage for this opportunity:
$28.01 to $37.35
Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, which is based on company and individual performance, short and long term incentives, and program-specific awards.
