DESCRIPTION
About the Position
This position is primarily responsible for conducting health inspections of restaurants, mobile units, hotels, motels, pools, spas, small drinking water systems, as well as other licensed and non-licensed facilities by Lane County Public Health – Environmental Health Section. Other duties include consultation inspections, committee assignments, presentations, animal bite investigations, complaint investigations and other duties as assigned.
Successful applicants will receive on the job training and supervisory support necessary to become registered as an Environmental Health Specialist in the state of Oregon.
About the Division
The Environmental Health Section is responsible for implementing state-mandated programs and enforcing laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety. Environmental Health also collaborates with the Communicable Disease section to investigate and control foodborne disease outbreaks.
Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm; occasional weekends and evenings

QUALIFICATIONS
Training:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public health sanitation, environmental health, chemistry, biology, microbiology, entomology, geology, or scientific discipline or a related field.
Experience:
Two years of responsible Environmental Health Specialist experience.
An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Testing Requirements

Registration or proof of State application as an Environmental Health Specialist trainee or Registered Environmental Health Specialist with the State of Oregon is required at time of appointment.Notes:
