Job Description Summary

The Testing Program Manager will be responsible for high complex testing programs/ Projects complete ownership, budget & Schedules controllership, and accountability of lab safety and test data quality. He/ She should lead Risks, Lab Operations along with lab technicians' management and lead horizontally across the Power Generation Engineering teams, Global Research Center, and services teams. He/ She should also work closely with all the stakeholders during various phases of the project including the evaluation, planning, execution, documentation and ensuring the ISO compliance during the execution. The candidate should make the proposals for new RFQs, review the technical drawings and standard operating procedures for variety of tests to be conducted in the lab. In addition, the candidate should also mentor/ guide young engineers, and the lab technicians.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

Have deep knowledge of the material testing lab infrastructure, Testing equipments and Lab operations.
Create and actively manage Testing program schedules and budgets that meet business objectives.
Work hand-in-hand with Finance and Operations to actively manage budgetary risks and opportunities through the year.
Ownership of testing and test data deliverables
Support Lab MOR discussions.
Participate and create S2 planning for Lab infrastructure development and road maps
Encourage creativity around ways to improve efficiency and speed throughout the testing organization.
Act as a primary interface between the customers, the testing team and the leadership team for smooth communication.
Make the technical proposals accordingly and pitch to Customer/ stakeholders to get the funding.
Work closely with TLs, TE/FE, technicians, & external manpower and identify potential areas of improvement and implement the same.
Deliver technical presentations at design reviews & program reviews (safety reviews, red flag reviews, and similar). Track/close AIs in PLM.
Provide technical guidance & work planning direction to a team of 4-6 test engineers/specialists.
To perform RCA and identify possible reasons for discrepancies/ abnormalities. To provide quick fixes to enable the tests.
Provide feedback to individuals and provide objective-based performance input during the team appraisals.
Mentor/develop junior TE/FE in designing/ testing aspects.
Problem solving mindset, should take quick decisions to enable high say/do ratio without compromising on safety. Should talk to SMEs to enable these solutions with quick turnaround times.
To look for new areas of expansion, work closely with PL to enable testing's in new areas of expansion.
Maintain ISO compliance for all our labs.
Ability and willingness to challenge status quo, without allegiance to past or current practices and technology, to drive to the best GE products

Deep knowledge on material testing methods and standards.

Qualifications/Requirements :

BS/MS degree in Engineering or related technical discipline from reputed university.
Minimum of 12+ years Engineering experience in multi disciplinary laboratory material testing skills.
Cognizant with ASME and other codes and standards
Familiar with PLM and standard NPI or equivalent processes
Working experience on making proposals, uncertainty analysis,
Experience with Lean and Six Sigma tools and processes.
GB certified (GE employees only).
Knowledge on GDT, manufacturing aspects (welding, machining), NDT procedures
