DescriptionThe section Wind & Turbine Testing is part of the Department “Measurements Northern Europe” and is located in Hamburg and Kaiser-Wilhelm-Koog, Germany. The section measures and analyses the loads on the whole structure of a turbine, evaluates the characteristic power curve of a specific turbine, measures the wind speed on site and provides diverse services involving LiDAR technology including equipment verification, classification as well as wind resource and power performance assessment.
Our focus is on operating measurement systems in wind turbines and for wind measurements and provide high quality data and related evaluations to our customers.
The section currently consists of 19 employees.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Project Delivery of power performance and load measurement services, comprising:
- measurement system preparation (data acqusition and sensors)
- installation works on site and commissioning (e.g. strain gauge instrumentation on all major turbine components)
- remote operation of measurements
- evaluation and reporting
- project management for measurement campaigns
- clear customer communication
- manage schedules, provision of deliverables and project budget
- contribute innovation ideas
- Work according to IEC 61400-12/ IEC 61400-13 standards as well as the DNV quality management system in combination with ISO 17025 and IECRE requirements
- Involves field work on wind turbines according to the relevant health and safety regulations (e.g. working at heights).

Qualifications- A technical higher education degree in a relevant field, e.g. Mechanical Engineering
- Practical experience in at least 3 of the following topics:
Strain gauge application, CAN-Bus, data-logger configuration, power measurements, met-mast instrumentation, Lidar devices) - Programming and data analysis skills
- Knowledge of relevant measurement standards for wind and turbines (e.g. IEC-61400 series)
- Being able to work independently
- Ambition to develop technical and commercial competence in the wind turbine market
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral
- German language (native or min. B2-certificate) is an advantage
- Readiness to travel (domestic and international)
- Driver's license valid in Germany (mandatory)
