Position Title: Environmental Services Technician

Tulsa Zoo Management, Inc. (TZMI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission of “Connecting, Caring, Advocating for Wildlife, People, and Wild Places.” A dynamic group of passionate individuals brings the zoo to life each day, 365 days per year, caring for animals, greeting guests, educating the public and managing the facilities. Each member of the team is integral to the success of the zoo as a key asset in the City of Tulsa and the Northeast Oklahoma region, delivering recreational opportunities, providing unplugged family time and conserving animal species for future generations.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for regular cleaning of the zoo based on an assigned routine, including but not limited to emptying trash, picking up trash on grounds, cleaning floors, walls, windows, toilets, sinks, and mirrors, wiping railing, and dusting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Other duties may be assigned in keeping with the mission of Tulsa Zoo Management, Inc. (TZMI)
- Regular cleaning of the zoo based on a routine assigned by the Environmental Services Manager, which may include public areas, nonpublic areas, outdoor locations, indoor locations, grounds and offices.
- Completes all assigned cleaning tasks within acceptable timeframe and utilizing a keen eye for detail. Responsible for bringing unforeseen issues to the attention of the Manager or Assistant Manager, with a constant focus on guest satisfaction and the highest level of customer service.
- Responsible for checking and replacing light bulbs and checking and restocking supplies such as paper products.
- Responsible for operating custodial equipment as required such as buffers and power washers, etc.
- Responsible for responding to calls regarding spills, leaks, accidents, etc. that occur throughout the day.
- Acknowledges guests on grounds and provides assistance/answers questions.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no direct reports.

Education and/or Experience
No education requirement; one year related experience and/or training.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of TZMI.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Computer Skills
Microsoft programs preferred; Internet Browser(s)- Explorer, Chrome, Safari, etc. required.
Other Skills, Abilities or Qualifications
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable on TZMI’s insurance carrier.
Ability to operate basic custodial equipment, including buffers, power washers, etc. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays. Ability to use basic computer-based systems such as an electronic timeclock, a zoo radio, etc.
