This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic team responsible for overseeing the global sustainability agenda of Bank of Singapore across operating geographies. As a member of the Sustainability Forum within the Strategy team of the global COO Office, you will be responsible for driving the sustainability agenda of the bank.
The Sustainability Forum consists of over 30 members from 6 Geographies and with representation across 8 Workstreams\: HR, Financial Products, Digital Transformation, Marketing & Communications/ CSR, Risk Management, Legal & Compliance, Corporate Services, and Front Office. The Sustainability Forum reports progress to the Bank’s Global Management Committee chaired by the CEO as well as to OCBC’s Group Sustainability.
As part of the ESG suitability initiative, this role is central to a significant program aiming to progressively achieve the following objectives\: a) increase the bank’s ESG penetration b) grow sales of our ESG product shelf c) provide our clients best in class Sustainable Investment Advisory services.
The role’s main responsibility is to build capacity in terms of developing solutions, tools, and systems to help Relationship Managers (RMs) improve their client’s sustainable investment advisory.
Job Description\:
- Project manage newly developed tools relating to ESG ratings interface and client profiling, including ESG Dashboard and ESG client preference assessments\:
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to refine these tools with the aim to continuously improve efficiency.
- Manage associated programs and initiatives on an ongoing basis - oversee suitability/ESG ratings operations.
- Interact regularly with Relationship Managers (RMs) across the bank to collect user feedback and provide training on the use of sustainability investment resources.
- Collaborate with backend teams to ensure accurate capture of ESG Ratings from external data providers.
- Develop new solutions that aims to improve client’s Sustainable investment advisory to assist the RMs:
- Conduct regular research to benchmark against industry practices and latest global trends, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Engage with external solution providers (e.g. ESG data providers) to enhance the offering and explore new solutions.
- Work closely with the product development teams to utilise data collected from the ESG Dashboard and Client ESG preferences in developing new ESG products.
- Assist with the planning of major events including our annual flagship Sustainability Summit and other large scale Sustainability related events for our clients and other stakeholders.
- To support & assist with the implementation and development of the overall Sustainability strategy including:
- Coordinating the implementation of bank-wide sustainability practices across all 8 Business Units through the oversight of set objectives, KPIs and other deliverables.
- Oversee and coordinate the deployment and implementation of sustainability practices through the Sustainability Forums in Singapore (HQ) and overseas branches in Hong Kong, Middle East, Europe, and ASEAN.
- Collaborate closely with external sustainability ecosystem partners across academia, non-profit organisations, consulting firms, and regulators, to deliver associated programmes.
- Liaise with OCBC Group & its subsidiaries in associated initiatives and follow up on open topics.
- Act as a sustainability ambassador to the brand, portraying Bank of Singapore as a global sustainability leader at public events and external engagements.
- Contribute to business strategic initiatives in Strategy department which may or may not pertain to sustainability.
Work Experience Requirements\:
- At least 8 years financial industry experience related to ESG Scoring/sustainable investment, especially in ESG Profiling and ESG scoring.
- A demonstrated knowledge of ESG rating methodologies, especially MSCI possibly gained through prior specific work experiences handling ESG ratings.
- Prior financial background in ESG/sustainability, possibly within a major financial institution, ESG data provider, or related research agency.
- Possesses strong analytical skills to scope through complex data sets and analytics.
- Strong relational skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to operate in a dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders is crucial. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and ever-changing industry, where adaptability and flexibility are key.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously, ensuring that all aspects of the sustainability agenda are addressed and aligned holistically with our corporate structure.
- Exceptional communications skills in both written and spoken are essential to effectively engage with stakeholders, including senior management, through clear & concise communication.
- Strong IT skills including coding/programming and knowledge of interface systems such as Power BI and financial data analytics platforms is preferred.
Education Requirements\:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Sustainability, Mathematics/Statistics, or Economics.
- Post graduate qualifications in sustainability/sustainable investing would be preferred.
