JOB SUMMARY
DJ&A is seeking a full-time mid to senior level Environmental Project Manager with 7+ years of relevant experience in natural resources or environmental policy. The ideal candidate must have experience with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), assessing environmental effects, independent NEPA documentation, analysis, and reporting. Other experience preferred includes transportation planning and permitting. The ideal candidate will have experience working on projects for state and/or federal clients as well as private clients. Must be proficient in writing and executing contract agreements with clients and subcontractors. Ideal candidate will have natural resource knowledge and have excellent technical report writing and editing skills.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages teams of environmental resource professionals to produce environmental compliance documents
- Ensures technical accuracy and adherence to quality assurance/quality control procedures
- Candidate must be driven to be a key member of a highly competent team that tackles a variety of projects with interesting challenges that are unique to their respective locations
- Possesses a strong initiative to solve problems, develop creative solutions, learn new methods and techniques, and seek out answers to simple and complex questions
- Coordinates with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets, quality, and agency requirements are achieved
- Interacts with clients, customers, officials, contractors, and others
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Independent NEPA documentation and analysis experience and/or specialist reporting
- Natural resource analysis experience
- Proficient technical writing skills
- Experience with transportation planning and permitting
- Experience in reviewing, understanding, and implementing policy, statute, and handbook direction for natural resource areas
- Excellent technical writing and editing skills
- Excellent verbal communication
- Excellent planning, organizational, and communication
- Highly proficient analytical and problem-solving skills
- Independent, self-motivated, results-oriented, and dynamic
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Project manager experience
- Experience specifically for lands and rights-of-way, minerals, recreation, range NEPA analysis, or specialist report writing
- 508 Compliance experience
- Natural resource field experience including data collection and reporting
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- B.S. degree or higher in a natural resources field
- An understanding of the NEPA process
- Demonstrated ability to author various environmental documents
- Team oriented and possesses a desire to learn and grow with the company
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
- Strong communication, computer, analytical, time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with coworkers and ability to foster professional relationships
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to travel to various (and sometimes remote) project sites
- Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas
SALARY AND BENEFITS
- Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Approximately $75,000 – $105,000/year
