We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Scrap Metal Buyer to join our environmentally-conscious team. As a Scrap Metal Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and purchasing various types of scrap metal from individuals, businesses, and industrial facilities. Your primary goal will be to identify valuable metal materials and negotiate fair prices, while adhering to recycling regulations and fostering strong relationships within the scrap metal community.


Job Responsibilities

  • Identify various grades of scrap metal material.
  • Evaluate the quality and quantity of scrap metal materials to determine their value and suitability for recycling.
  • Load and unload scrap metal from vehicles.
  • Safely and accurately store materials.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations throughout the buying process.
  • Maintain accurate records of transactions, weights, and prices.
  • Bale, shear, and sort materials for shipping and receiving.
  • Ongoing preventive maintenance cleaning of warehouse facility.
  • Stay up-to-date with market trends, metal prices, and industry developments to make informed buying decisions.
  • Collaborate with the recycling team to optimize processes and contribute to the overall success of the recycling operation.
  • Promote the company's commitment to sustainability and environmentally responsible practices.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Bilingual speaking preferred (Spanish and English).
  • Experience working in an outdoor warehouse or similar environment.
  • Proven experience as a Scrap Metal Buyer or in a similar role, preferably in the recycling or metal industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of different types of metals, their grades, and market pricing.
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with sellers and maintain positive relationships.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and safety protocols related to scrap metal recycling.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and data management.
  • Physical ability to handle and inspect heavy scrap metal materials.
  • Willing and eager to learn. A quick learner and a desire to grow.

Work Environment
