Description

Job Title: Lead Solar Installer

Reports To: Project Manager

Summary: The Lead Solar Installer will lead teams of 6-8 individuals in installing photovoltaic (PV) solar systems on rooftops and other structures for residential homes, small businesses and commercial properties.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Produce, read and interpret plan sets to inform the installation process
  • Lead a crew to assemble, install and maintain PV solar systems in compliance with site assessment and schematics
  • Manages Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) for solar construction
  • Troubleshoot any functional problems with software, inverters, racking, etc.
  • Records progress and events for daily reports
  • Assess job sites to identify and resolve any potential hazards
  • Conduct site planning and layout for efficient construction
  • Perform work within OSHA safety standards and oversee crew to uphold standards
  • Test system to measure correct expected performance of system to ensure maximum output
  • Account for materials quantity and quality onsite as well as for transport
  • Perform minor electrical work as it relates to panel installation
  • Connect solar system to the electric grid using proper grounding systems and controls
  • Weatherproof the solar installation in accordance with local safety regulations and the specifications of the manufacturer
  • Install temperature sensor and communication start up panel weather status updates
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skill, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of NEC and electrical codes as they relate to solar PV installations and inspection compliance
  • Working knowledge of transformers, disconnect, inverters optimizers, accumulation panels and communication systems
    • Operate micro-inverter, optimizer and string solar systems
    • Different mounting and racking solar systems
  • OSHA safety standards knowledge
  • Ability to lift, pull, and push materials/equipment weighing approximately 50 lbs on a daily basis
  • DOT Preferred
  • MUST be able to pass a background check
  • MUST be able to pass a drug test

Educational Background and Work Experience:

  • Must have at minimum 2 years of experience in electrical or solar industries
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • NABEP PV Installation professional certification preferred
  • Solar Installation Certification form a Training Program or Accredited Institution
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
