Manager, Offshore Wind

Summary

The Manager, Offshore Wind Development, will focus on all aspects of business development of an offshore wind and transmission projects supporting the Head of Offshore Wind in developing, executing, and managing activities. This individual must coordinate projects across multi-disciplinary complex teams to ensure proper alignment between commercial, technical, permitting, and legal aspects of both new and existing projects. This role will involve structuring Joint Ventures (JVs), leading diligence activities, responding to RFPs and help in building consensus among energyRe senior leadership to enact recommendations and provide mandates.


Key Job Responsibilities

  • Overseeing early-stage business development activities for current and prospective offshore wind and transmission projects
  • Leading new Joint Venture (JV) implementation, design and governance for project (M&A and/or tenders)
  • Overseeing business case development and valuations along with project budget and goals
  • Supporting relevant teams with detailed modeling activities
  • Coordinating key project inputs with the technical, commercial and permitting/regulatory teams
  • Identifying potential sources of project capital
  • Deliver against budget objectives
  • Assisting project teams with ongoing development activities offshore wind and transmission
  • Supporting the negotiation of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), real estate transactions, stakeholder agreements, grid connection agreements, financing and regulatory approvals
  • Building internal consensus for projects by engaging with energyRe executive team through:
  • Preparing project memos, business case descriptions and transaction overviews
  • Presenting recommendations to Investment Committee to secure required mandate
  • Building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, including:
  • Current and potential Joint Venture partners
  • New and existing financial partners
  • Any other strategic partners, vendors, and stakeholders
  • Owning other corporate-level activities on behalf of the Offshore Wind team, including:
  • Short and long-term offshore growth strategies
  • Maintaining compliance with annual budget objectives
Requirements

Required Education

  • MBA or equivalent Master's-level education, preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Finance, Business or another relevant STEM degree, required.

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of relevant experience within the energy industry (renewables, offshore wind or offshore transmission experience is preferred).
  • Prior experience in energy infrastructure development, including construction, supply chain, operations and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with energy policy and regulation relevant for offshore wind in the US.
  • Experience working directly with and influencing senior-level stakeholders to gain project approvals.
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and prioritizing between multiple ongoing projects.

The Manager, Offshore Wind Development may be required to endure the following physical activities, environmental conditions, and physical demands:
