About This Position

Reporting to the Director, East Development, the Manager, East Development will be responsible for leading project teams, managing green hydrogen investment cases, evaluating market expansion opportunities, managing counterparty relations, and contract negotiations. This position requires close collaboration with subject matter experts across all aspects of project development and is a unique opportunity to drive the commercial strategy of green hydrogen projects at scale. 

Overview of Department

East Development team is currently around 14 people with specialist, manager, director levels, rolling into the Vice President of East Development. Team works primarily in the ERCOT market, on a variety of technologies, including PV, BESS, Wind, and H2. The scope of the team covers full cycle development from early stage strategy through to start of construction, with a primary focus on project management to maintain schedule, budget, and economic value of the project. Team coordinates closely with all major SME departments on a daily basis. 

Responsibilities and Duties

    • Lead development team engagement on green hydrogen pricing, investment theses, and offtake relationships, coordinating with Origination and Trading and Business Development teams
    • Complete financial modeling and analysis necessary to advise key transactions as well as evaluate and frame project development risks and opportunities
    • Support all project level reporting and key decision making presentations for the executive team
    • Manage and own the project development work streams for wind, solar, and green hydrogen projects in the ERCOT market through the leadership of an interdisciplinary team of subject matter experts
    • Maintain ownership of project budgets, schedules, and reports
    • Coordinate, and maintain the interconnection study process and relationships, along with analyses for transmission service availability, basis, and curtailment.
    • Lead counterparty relationships and contract negotiations with transmission utilities, tax consultants, land agents, and real estate attorneys
    • Support the creation and improvement of development and project management tools, processes, and standard operating procedures while managing all reporting of the regional development team
    • Structure and prepare analysis and materials for senior management and capital deployment committees

Qualifications and Skills

    • Bachelor's degree 
    • 5+ years of renewable project development, project finance, or acquisition experience
    • Financial modeling expertise using Microsoft Excel or other modeling programs
    • Strong communication, organization, and relationship management skills
    • Master’s degree is valued
    • Experience in finance, power marketing, interconnection process management is preferred

    • Position is part of a remote team, with regular electronic and video communication
