Who we are looking for:   

We are looking for a Sr. Process Engineer to join us in pioneering the optimization of processes to extract metals from under-utilized material streams and championing our sustainability initiatives. Your responsibilities include driving quality, efficiency, and sustainability improvements, overseeing initiatives like rare earth separation and scaling up operations. Your expertise will directly impact our refining operations, contributing to a more sustainable and efficient future. Join us and help redefine what's achievable in metallurgy. 

Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and oversee metallurgical refining processes, including concentration, separation, refining, and casting, to ensure optimal performance and product quality. 
    • Lead the process development of the Phoenix Tailings’ rare earth separation system, taking the project from R&D through the feasibility stage to pilot and commercial-scale operations. 
    • Develop detailed mass and energy balance models to ensure process efficiency and optimization. 
    • Develop and maintain process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams to accurately represent system configurations and operating parameters. 
    • Develop and review laboratory test plans to find optimal operating conditions for rare earth separation. 
    • Design and model pilot plant processes and systems to scale up laboratory findings for practical application. 
    • Collaborate with other senior engineers to size and source equipment that meets required specifications for pilot design, build-out, and operation. 
    • Establish project timelines and execute deliverables in a timely manner, ensuring project milestones are met. 
    • Serve as a technical expert in the cross-functional engineering team designing the pilot and commercial-scale processes, including facilitating design reviews and providing technical guidance. 
    • Collaborate with research teams to provide technical expertise, guidance, and support in developing new technologies and refining processes. 

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related fields; Ph.D. is a plus but not required. 
    • Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in separation processes for critical materials. 
    • Proven expertise in designing and optimizing solvent extraction processes for efficient critical minerals recovery. 
    • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainable metals production practices, ensuring compliance and promoting environmentally responsible practices. 
    • Proficiency in process simulation software and materials characterization techniques to analyze and optimize process parameters. 
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, capable of leading complex projects from conception to completion. 
    • Effective communication and collaboration abilities, fostering teamwork and knowledge sharing across multidisciplinary teams. 
    • Thrives in fast-paced environments, demonstrating adaptability and efficiency in meeting project deadlines and objectives.
