The Fabrication Engineering Technician plays an important role by supporting development and fabrication initiatives of our innovative liquid metal battery prototypes in support of advancing our technologies. Working at a bench or standing in a glove box, this role is responsible for welding and metal fabrication with a heavy focus on TIG welding of various components. The successful candidate is a strong team player who possesses curiosity, an eagerness to solve problems and has solid experience with TIG welding.

Responsibilities

    • Build commercial liquid metal battery prototypes
    • Weld and perform metal fabrication of stainless steels and carbon steels, paying special attention to the quality and accuracy of prototypes and experimental setups
    • Troubleshoot equipment
    • Demonstrate strong teamwork by effectively collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to meet company goals

Qualifications

    • 2+ years' hands on experience and proven solid expertise with TIG welding stainless steels and carbon steels
    • Hands on experience working in metal fabrication or assembly
    • Strong communication skills including verbal, listening, written and interactive
    • Proven ability to follow technical instructions
    • Experience using basic hand tools and machinery such as drill press and similar
    • Must be safety oriented and able to read, understand and constantly follow companywide safety instructions
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Basic computer skills for data entry and communicating with peers.
    • CNC knowledge is a plus
    • Other welding experience such as laser, robot, MIG or welding of nickel/other exotic metals is a plus
