About The Role

Solar Landscape is seeking a mission-driven workforce development leader to join our growing team. Solar Landscape’s workforce development program provides hard skills training in commercial and residential solar installation in partnership with local workforce and community-based organizations. As the Workforce Program Coordinator, you will collaborate with our team to connect trainees from historically overburdened communities to jobs in the growing clean energy sector. This role requires a passion for workforce development, strong interpersonal skills, and experience providing career readiness or job placement support. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of supporting individuals facing barriers to employment to succeed in their careers. While prior experience in the clean energy and solar sector is not a requirement, the Workforce Program Coordinator will be expected to become familiar with current clean energy sector labor trends. 

This is a hybrid role, and candidates should expect to work an average of 3 days per week on-site at training locations across New Jersey or at the Solar Landscape office in downtown Asbury Park, NJ.

Responsibilities

    • Work in collaboration with the workforce development team to build relationships with employers who have current or future hiring needs.
    • Provide 1-1 support for students through career coaching, job interview preparation, and resume help.
    • Make job placements and referrals for students and monitor job quality, starting wages, wage growth, and career track progression.
    • Support workforce development team to complete solar industry hiring needs assessments in 7 states.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date workforce student records including training attendance, job referrals, and employment status.
    • Manage student records within Solar Landscape’s CRM and job placement platform.
    • Facilitate or assist with special activities such as graduation events, mock interviews, industry conferences, and technical advisory council meetings.
    • Collaborate with workforce development team to manage partnerships with nonprofit community-based organizations.
    • Support recruitment activities with partner organizations, and lead information sessions and webinars for potential students.
    • Facilitate career exploration activities with high school-aged students as well as adults.
    • Assist with all grant reporting activities. 

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of 3 years' work experience in workforce development; BSW (Bachelor of Social Work) or training in social science disciplines or related fields a plus.
    • Experience working with adult learners and skills in meeting the needs of populations with barriers to employment.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and CRMs (i.e., Salesforce).
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
    • Strong decision-making skills with a demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in a timely manner.
    • Bi-lingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
    • Experience in the clean energy or skilled labor sector is a plus.
    • Must have access to personal transportation for traveling to partner locations across New Jersey.
    • Ability to travel nationally to Illinois, California, Maryland, etc. with occasional overnight stays required.
