Overview 

We are looking for a detailed and motivated Accountant to support accounting operations and processes across Carbon Direct Inc. A successful candidate combines solid analytical skills with knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting experience. You are detail-oriented, skilled at learning and improving processes across our fast-growing company, and able to collaborate effectively with team members across departments. You will report to our Senior Accounting Manager. Although a background in climate work is a plus but not a prerequisite, a passion for solving climate problems is required.

Responsibilities 

  • Own various accounting activities, including key areas such as A/P, payroll, intercompany, and other spend management components
  • Assist in completion of financial audits and tax returns
  • Collaborate closely within the finance team on financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, collections, and cash management 
  • Work independently on monthly and quarterly financial close processes
  • Refine accounting infrastructure and systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Bill.com, Rippling, Carta, HubSpot) for a growing organization
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and infrastructure

Qualifications 

  • Experience in an accounting, auditing, or finance role.
  • Experience working for a fast-growing, entrepreneurial organization is preferred. Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in accounting or finance preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar certification preferred, as is knowledge of GAAP and experience in key areas such as accrued expenses, lease accounting, and software capitalization.
  • Prior experience supporting third-party audits is preferred.
  • Proven analytical abilities, well-developed communication and organizational skills, and keen attention to detail are vital.

Salary

$95,000-$115,000
