VARO Energy is a dynamic, fast developing, integrated European downstream company launched in 2012. Leveraging our knowledge in the renewables space will not only allow us to make a positive contribution to the energy transition, it will also enable us to further grow our market share. We will do so via our strong marketing organisation with activities in wholesale, retail and end-consumer deliveries. In combination with our sophisticated supply & trading and biofuels organisation, we excel at unlocking value from our Integrated Fuels Value Chains (FVCs).

THE POSITION
As our Renewables Compliance Manager, your main focus will be to actively support the growth of VARO's renewables business in The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg (Benelux). For that, you will participate in stakeholder groups and platforms in the Netherlands and Belgium to represent VARO and its interests, continuously monitor national and international legislative developments and pro-actively provide updates and related interpretations for our businesses. Besides that, you will be in a key position to discuss these regulatory developments with various internal stakeholders including commercial teams, business development, legal and others to transfer these updates and interpretations into commercial opportunities for VARO.
Your regulatory and compliance expertise is critical to the viability and success of (M&A) projects in the VARO growth pillars. These projects are long term and exemplify VARO's strategy to transform its business towards sustainable energy. Building collaboration and be closely connected to various teams is essential to realize successful implementations. Therefore, the Renewables Compliance Manager will actively support the initiatives of the New Energies teams.
As a senior member of our Compliance team, you will be accountable for our compliance position and obligations from Renewable’s legislation in the Benelux. Together with your team, you will work closely on a day-to-day sustainability related operations as well as guiding our Feedstock Origination and Supply Trading teams in the decision-making space available within the compliance boundaries. You will be a key stakeholder to help VARO accelerate the energy transition and be successful in delivering low carbon solutions to the market.
The role reports directly to the Head of Renewables Compliance and will work also closely with our Country Director Benelux.
Be the primary point of contact within the Benelux organization for tactical analysis of commercial offerings, feedstock origination and trading decisions associated with the interpretation of Renewables Regulations.
Represent VARO in stakeholder groups and platforms with regards to Renewable Regulations and Compliance.
Continuously work with and support the Renewables Compliance Officer and his direct reports to meet the accurate, complete and timely submission of reports to Dutch, Belgian and Luxembourg national authorities, as well as the consistency of applicable administrations within VARO and the resulting internal and external reports.
Monitor that renewable energy meets the changing and country-specific sustainability requirements in Benelux and surrounding countries for cross-border deliveries.
Participate in projects to ensure the growth of new energies, share compliance & regulatory knowledge with teams in VARO's growth pillars and advise on commercial and strategic decisions regarding renewables compliance aspects.
In order to fulfill the content of the job the ideal candidate has quantitative skills, is highly accurate, has demonstrated IT affinity and is able to translate sustainability certification criteria into practical scenario’s:
Sound knowledge on the principles of compliance and regulations, expert in legal texts and declarations and being comfortable to speaking directly with regulators and authorities
Expert knowledge on renewables’ regulations and national compliance regimes, esp. in the Benelux countries
Dutch and English proficiency are a MUST - French beneficial
