POSITION OVERVIEW FOR RENEWABLES DESIGN SPECIALIST  

Agilitech is seeking a highly motivated Renewables Design Specialist. This professional will possess competency in researching and developing relationships and opportunities. The Renewables Design Specialist works directly under the Director of Renewables on designing and developing solar systems to further grow business in the renewables market. The ideal candidate will drive strategic project design and development opportunities in the renewables market. Requirements

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR RENEWABLES DESIGN  SPECIALIST   

  • Design solar energy systems, including rooftop, carport, and ground mount solar PV arrays, inverters, mounting structures, and electrical components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant tools to create detailed and accurate solar system layouts, electrical schematics, and engineering drawings for commercial & industrial projects.
  • Conduct site assessments to evaluate solar potential, shading analysis, roof condition, and electrical considerations, and provide recommendations for optimal system design.
  • Collaborate with the director and project management team to gather project requirements and design customized solar solutions that meet client's needs and preferences.
  • Perform financial analysis and provide cost estimates to assess the feasibility and financial viability of solar projects, considering factors such as energy production, system efficiency, and return on investment.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in solar technology, industry trends, and local regulations, and apply this knowledge to enhance the design and implementation of solar systems.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, electrical standards, and safety regulations throughout the design and installation processes.
  • Investigate property records to identify appropriate contacts for opportunity development.
  • Conducts market research and analysis to identify emerging trends and assess potential new business avenues within the renewables sector.
  • Collaborates with renewables project managers on all aspects of the sales cycle, from proposal preparation and qualification statements to pricing strategies and marketing collateral development.
  • Provides operational support: track and manage Agilitech renewables business development activities, ensuring smooth execution and timely follow-up.
  • Represent Agilitech at industry networking events: build brand awareness, cultivate relationships, and generate new leads.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

OCCUPATIONAL COMPETENCIES FOR RENEWABLES DESIGN SPECIALIST   


Technical Competencies:

  • Project Development: Knowledge of the project development lifecycle for renewables, including feasibility studies, permitting, financing, and construction.
  • Financial Analysis: Ability to analyze project financials, calculate returns on investment (ROIs), and develop compelling financial proposals.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant regulations and incentives driving the renewable energy market.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant design tools.
  • Strong knowledge of photovoltaic (PV) systems, solar energy principles, and electrical components used in commercial & industrial solar installations.
  • Relevant certifications or training in solar energy systems design are a plus. (Energy Toolbase, HelioScope and Nearmaps)

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE FOR  RENEWABLES DESIGN SPECIALIST   

  • Bachelor’s degree: Business, Engineering, Marketing, or related field preferred or relevant work experience.
  • Experience: 2 - 5 years of proven experience in designing commercial & industrial solar systems, within the solar industry.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, electrical standards, and regulations pertaining to residential solar projects.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to optimize solar system designs for maximum energy generation and cost efficiency.
  • Market expertise: Strong understanding of the renewable energy sector and its key players.
  • Proposal proficiency: Demonstrated experience leading and crafting multi-disciplinary proposals for renewable energy projects.
  • Technical skills: Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe.
  • Professional involvement: Active member of relevant energy professional organizations is a plus.
  • Travel flexibility: Willingness to travel for networking events, trade shows, and Agilitech office visits.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
