Freedom Solar Power is looking for a professional and detailed oriented Solar Field Service Technician to join our team. This role will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing Residential and Commercial Photovoltaic, Storage, and Off-Grid systems.  If you have prior solar installation experience, electrical skills, stellar work ethic, and are passionate about solar, this is the right career opportunity for you! 

Essential Functions and Duties:

    • Responds to service calls from dispatch on behalf of customers with solar system issues.
    • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs Solar, Storage, and Off-Grid systems.
    • May get on roofs to physically remove, replace, or repair solar panels.
    • Provide exceptional customer service experience to homeowners.
    • Communicates findings and follows procedures to the manager.
    • Completes necessary paperwork, timekeeping, and inventory processing for all service calls.
    • Collects payment for services rendered and potentially upsells customers in the field.
    • Complete the jobs disposition form after every service call.
    • Assist with other duties as assigned by Service Operations Manager.

Qualifications:

    • Prior solar installation experience.
    • Valid Apprentice Electrician license Required.
    • OSHA 10 Required.
    • Valid Driver’s License required; willingness to travel regionally frequently. 
    • Must be able to withstand heights, climb ladders, being outdoors for long periods in hot and cool climates. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of local electrical codes.
    • Knowledge of residential PV design and components.
    • Thorough understanding of residential AC (MicroInverters) and DC (String & Optimizer) PV systems.
    • Must have a thorough understanding of residential electrical systems, and components, and how to work safely around residential electrical components.
    • Ability to work alone and with teams in a safe manner.
    • Ability to learn new technical skills and diagnostic/troubleshooting processes.
    • Knowledge of basic trades: roofing, carpentry, plumbing, and metal framing.
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints, wiring schematics, and electrical instructions.
    • Ability to make field changes and communicate with the Project Manager.
    • Ability to test voltages from 10V – 1000VDC / 120V – 480VAC.
    • Ability to receive and distribute instructions.
    • Ability to drive a branded company truck and trailer in a safe and professional manner.
$22 - $32 an hour
