Overview 

Carbon Direct is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as a Supply Chain Decarbonization Advisor, with experience in insetting and agricultural supply chains. The successful candidate will play a key role in advising clients on strategies to decarbonize their supply chains, with a focus on implementing insetting initiatives to achieve carbon neutrality and foster sustainable business practices. The position may include opportunities to develop and pilot new service offerings related to supply chain decarbonization and insetting. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of corporate sustainability, helping companies navigate the complexities of supply chain decarbonization and drive meaningful change towards a low-carbon future.

Responsibilities 

  • Lead client engagements to assess supply chain emissions, identify hotspots, and develop tailored decarbonization strategies aligned with corporate sustainability goals.
  • Provide expert guidance on insetting methodologies and best practices, including the identification and implementation of nature-based solutions to offset emissions within the supply chain.
  • Collaborate with clients to design and implement insetting projects, including the development of carbon sequestration projects, reforestation initiatives, and sustainable land management practices.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments and financial analyses to evaluate the cost-effectiveness and environmental benefits of insetting projects, and provide recommendations for investment decisions.
  • Engage with stakeholders across the supply chain, including suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and customers, to foster collaboration and support the implementation of decarbonization initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and innovations in supply chain decarbonization and insetting, and leverage industry knowledge to provide thought leadership and strategic insights to clients.
  • Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities for new client engagements, preparing proposals, and presenting solutions to prospective clients.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sustainability consultants, engineers, and data analysts, to deliver integrated solutions and support client projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental science, sustainability, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in supply chain decarbonization and sustainability consulting, with a strong understanding of greenhouse gas accounting principles and methodologies. Preference for experience in agricultural supply chains and sustainable land management practices.
  • Expertise in insetting and nature-based solutions, including experience in developing and implementing carbon offset projects, reforestation initiatives, and sustainable land management practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and build collaborative partnerships to drive sustainable outcomes within supply chains.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management,
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex data sets, conduct financial analyses, and develop actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences through clear, compelling reports and presentations.
  • Proven project management experience, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Passion for sustainability and a strong commitment to driving positive environmental impact through innovative solutions and strategic initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certification in sustainability (e.g., LEED AP, CSR-P) or supply chain management (e.g., SCPro) is a plus.
  • Experience working with corporate clients in diverse industries, such as consumer goods, manufacturing, retail, or technology, to develop and implement supply chain sustainability initiatives.
  • Familiarity with emerging trends and frameworks in supply chain sustainability, such as the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and Science-Based Targets (SBTs).
  • Knowledge of carbon markets, voluntary carbon standards, and certification schemes (e.g., Verra, Gold Standard) for carbon offset projects.
  • Proficiency in GIS software and spatial analysis techniques for assessing land use and carbon sequestration potential.

Salary

$162,000-$198,000
