The Residential Design Manager is responsible for ensuring designs are delivered on time and with minimal errors. The Residential Design Manager will supervise the work of in-house and outsource designers, create designs and BOMs, provide technical assistance to other departments, and provide electrical and structural engineering analysis.  

Job Duties:

    • Implement effective strategies to deliver a high volume of designs and BOMs with minimal turnaround time and few errors
    • Assign tasks to in-house and outsource designers
    • Track and report design-related metrics to Manager
    • Capable of performing the same tasks as a PV Designer. It may be necessary to not only supervise but also complete the same tasks as a PV Designer to meet monthly quotas
    • Develop Standard Operating Procedures for Design, BOM and Site Assessment processes
    • Assist in front-end design and cost estimation for complex projects
    • Provide electrical and structural PE stamping
    • Coordinates with other sales, site assessment, permitting, operations and installation teams for engineering support as needed
    • Responds to emails/calls about design related questions
    • Assists with other duties as assigned by Manager

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competency:

    • Experience with residential and commercial solar design up to 1 MW in size. 
    • Knowledge in AutoCAD, Aurora, Helioscope, PVWatts, PVSyst, Microsoft Office
    • Familiarity with DC and AC modules, string and microinverters, DC- and AC-coupled energy storage
    • Strong verbal/written communication skills
    • Hard-working & Positive attitude
    • Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
    • Highly Detail-oriented

Education and Experience Required:

    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer-Aided Drafting, Degree in Math, Engineering, or Science related field
    • 5 years of PV Design experience highly preferred
    • NABCEP Certified PV Installation Professional Credential
    • Professional Engineering License
