Freedom Solar Power is looking to add a Master Electrician and Company Qualifier to our team! In this role, the perfect candidate would oversee, assist, and perform duties that are required for all electrical work on commercial solar installation projects, including project estimates, contractor coordination, project management, and labor. Maintain currency regarding the US National Electrical Code, State and local electrical codes and changes.

Essential Functions and Duties:

    • Serve as the company’s licensed master electrician and qualifier in certain U.S. states (including, by way of example, Connecticut, Massachusetts , and Maine).
    • Obtain permits required by law to carry out electrical work on commercial solar installation projects.
    • Study blueprints and schematics and determine methods, materials, and equipment needed to complete the assignment.
    • Connects wires to plugs, switches, controls, light fixtures, motors, and solar panels.
    • Inspect and evaluate electrical equipment to ensure that it operates efficiently and safely; determine whether equipment and new installations meet requirements of the National Electrical Code.
    • Assist Operations and Design teams in developing plans and estimates for electrical projects, including determining time, equipment, and human and material resources needed to complete the work.
    • Monitor and test various electrical systems.
    • Coordinate inspections for contractor-performed work in new and remodeled solar installation projects.  
    • Locate electrical underground wiring for various projects.
    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
    • May assist in training lower-level apprentice electricians and others.
    • Some travel is required.

    • Must be able and willing to qualify and act as the licensee of record and master electrician trade qualifier for Freedom Solar and no other contractor.

Required Qualifications:

    • Current Massachusetts Master Electrician license.
    • 5+ years of experience in commercial electrical installation, construction, maintenance, and preventative maintenance.  
    • Strong ability to think critically and use best judgement.
    • Ability to read and understand electrical blueprints.
    • Ability to safely operate all tools associated with the electrical trade.
    • Solid verbal communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Licensed and able to act as a qualifier for Freedom Solar in at least 2 of these New England states: Maine, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
    • Experience leading a team of electricians.

Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to withstand heights, be on roofs, and climb ladders.
    • Ability to lift 50-75+ lbs routinely.
    • Ability to bend, stretch, squat, and lift.
    • Ability to work in 30-100+ degree weather, as well as in wet and dry conditions.
