As Compliance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in our exciting new apprenticeship programme, taking full responsibility for ensuring that Octopus is compliant with government and other sourced apprenticeships contracts. Working closely with the delivery team in the company, you will support the design, development and implementation of the contract and operational compliance regime within Octopus. 

You will have the skills and abilities to develop responsive, efficient and relevant systems and processes, that will ensure that Octopus achieves compliance within all of its apprenticeship contracts.  

What you'll do

    • Prepare a monthly "risk and compliance" report, and present as required to Senior Management.
    • Monitor apprenticeship delivery activity to ensure compliance with ESFA rules.
    • Liaise with delivery staff regarding all aspects of compliance.
    • Offer advice and support to all Octopus staff on compliance issues.
    • Develop relationships with relevant ESFA staff.
    • Develop, initiate, maintain and revise relevant policies and procedures for the general operation of the compliance programme.
    • Support the development of the Quality Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plan (QIP). 
    • Respond to and recommend solutions for potential breaches of rules/regulations, policies and procedures by regular monitoring and evaluation. 
    • Identify areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
    • Ensure proper reporting to enforcement agencies. 
    • Provide board reports on a regular basis.

What you'll have

    • Experience of the monitoring of training delivery and assessment 
    • Proven previous involvement in and experience of apprenticeship delivery and compliance 
    • Experience of working with and supporting teams and individuals 
    • Experience of effective performance improvement and quality assurance 
    • A detailed understanding of the UKs Further Education sector, including apprenticeships 
    • Excellent analytical skills 
    • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written 
    • Excellent relationship building skills 
    • Project management skills
    • Proven organisational skills 
    • Proven ability to work on own initiative 
    • Working knowledge and experience in using word processing, database software and spreadsheets 
    • Ability to work in a small team and a fast- paced environment
    • Confident, positive, outlook with a can-do attitude 
    • High energy, drive, initiative and motivated to succeed 
    • Self-starter 
    • Creative and innovative 
    • Ability to work well with people and an excellent communicator 
    • Positive with a good sense of humour 
    • Flexible in approach 
    • Degree or equivalent (desirable)
    • Experience in or a good understanding of the IT sector (desirable)
    • Experience of dealing with ESFA and other relevant education regulators (desirable)
