JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Training Instructor to join our team. The EHS Training Instructor will be responsible for preparing, conducting, and evaluating safety classes, hands-on training, multi-media presentations, and skill sessions, both on-site and off-site. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a strong commitment to promoting a safe and healthy work environment.

Requirements

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Create instructor materials (course outlines, background material, instructional materials, and training aides).
  • Deliver classroom or skills training sessions so that the learning objectives are achieved, ensure students are actively and positively engaged in the learning process, and instructional/audiovisual equipment and tools are used effectively.
  • Complete all the administrative steps applicable to the class so that all required information is verified and properly recorded.
  • Administer tests and evaluation instruments so the trainees follow all instructions, and the evaluation is administered as intended.
  • Maintain and develop customer relationships by responding to trainees' questions, concerns, and requests with speed and professionalism.
  • At the end of each class, inspect and re-arrange classroom materials and equipment so they are safe and ready for the next session.
  • Keep up to date with relevant safety topics, software and lecture, and online training technology
  • Manage the training program in accordance with business needs, regulatory requirements, and quality management systems.  

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, health, or related field or
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in EHS training and development
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
  • OSHA 500 and 501 certified or eligible for certification
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, in order to express technical and nontechnical concepts clearly and concisely
  • Proven instructor and general organizational skills
  • Must enjoy working with the public and have a strong initiative to work independently 
  • Be proactive, organized and handle work under stressful and uncertain environments
  • Receptive to constructive feedback
  • Flexibility to work various hours in the office and the field, as well as travel as needed (may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends occasionally)
  • Cross-train and assist other departments as necessary.
