You work together with business teams to deliver results and secure the IKEA requirements related to sustainability are met by our business partners.

IKEA Services India is one of the Supply Areas for IKEA, which represent South Asia Region comprising of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Dubai (Supply Area South Asia-SASA). SASA has a rich history of sourcing from the South Asia region for more than four decades. Over these years, we have brought in many processes and best practices that have improved the way we work with our business partners. Transformation of textile, carpet industry and recycle plastic industry are a few such examples. This partnership with suppliers has helped to continuously grow our sourcing operations.

Job Description

You will work both on social and environmental sustainability projects and sustainability compliance projects. You will identify, develop and lead implementation of sustainability projects in the value chain, in cooperation with business teams and business partners. You will explore opportunities to partner or collaborate with external stakeholders on sustainability compliance and social and environmental projects. You will also perform verification audits in accordance with working methods to support business partners to take ownership of compliance.

You will support business partners to take ownership of compliance through verification audits, including:

  • Contribute to creating action plan related to sustainability development of supplier
  • Provide expertise in relevant area, in connection to the global and local priorities and directions, with consideration to risks identified
  • Train and support suppliers, business units' teams in Sustainability related topics, as well as IWAY* and associated agenda
  • Responsible to plan and perform verification activities, secure timely and accurate verification information in the planning and reporting tools
  • Support new suppliers during onboarding (including sub-suppliers) with providing required education, assessment (compliance, capability assessment and action plan co-creation and follow up)
  • Together with business teams, participate in opening new suppliers / new countries with risk assessment
  • Contribute to global sustainability projects
  • Contribute to short- and long-term sustainability compliance Supply Area action plans, prepare and implement relevant activities
  • Share Environmental and Social good business examples and practices

Qualifications

You have a passion in Sustainability, a deep knowledge of:

  • University degree in sustainability or engineering or social fields depending on the responsibility area
  • Experience working with ESG Governance (environmental, social and corporate)
  • Familiar with management systems: IWAY, ISO14001, SA8000, OHSAS, etc.
  • Experience in verification activities
  • Knowledge of local legislation and main trends in the local market on sustainability
  • Good knowledge of different industrial set-ups
  • Understanding of sustainability-related global trends and their impacts to the business

Additional Information

This position will be based in Bangalore, India.
