We practice what we preach and ensure that our employees also have access to transportation by providing them with financial incentives to bike, walk, or use transit for a better quality of life.

About Toole Design

Toole Design is the leading planning, design, and engineering firm specializing in multimodal transportation. Since our start in 2003 as a single office in Maryland, we have expanded throughout the United States and Canada. Our talented team of planners, urban designers, landscape architects, and engineers are committed to delivering quality work that meets the needs of all people, regardless of age, ability, race, or gender. We have been named a "best firm to work for" and have one of the lowest staff turnover rates in the industry.

Every project our employees deliver directly and positively affects our communities. We are industry-leading experts, and we work hard to encourage a collaborative and team-oriented environment.

A Day in the Life of an Environmental Graphic Designer

As an Environmental Graphic Designer at Toole, you will be a part of our Graphic Design team, working collaboratively with urban designers, landscape architects, planners, and engineers to help users successfully engage with the built environment. You will bridge the gap between 2D and 3D design, using your knowledge of visual communication to help users understand and navigate their environments successfully, as well as helping public clients envision possibilities for their streets, trails, and transit stations. You will have the opportunity to work on stakeholder outreach and design workshops, concept plans, design guidelines, wayfinding strategies, branding, signage, and map design, including deliverables ranging from presentations and reports to design intent documents and final artwork. Opportunities for work on urban design, illustration, and 3D renderings are also available depending on the specific backgrounds and skill sets.

The Graphic Design team currently includes designers stationed in Portland, Madison, and Los Angeles, and the selected candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across Toole Design’s 19 offices in the US and Canada.

This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home 2-3 days per week. The Raleigh office of Toole Design is conveniently located in downtown Raleigh, just a few blocks from Moore Square and GoRaleigh Station. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit.
