Description

TechLaw is seeking a senior-level geologist with 10 to 20 years of experience for our next-level emergency response team in Edison, NJ, located less than 60 minutes from New York City. The position will provide technical and project management support to U.S. EPA's Response Team (ERT)/Response Engineering and Analytical Contract (REAC) Team-a critical link in our nation's environmental safety support system. REAC teams bring advanced support and response to national and international incidents involving releases of oil and hazardous materials and actions at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites. Our scientists and project managers are experts in hydrogeology, geology, chemistry, risk assessment, soil science, sampling and analysis, hazardous waste investigations, remediation, and public outreach. This position will involve project management, evaluating and preparing environmental investigation and remediation work plans, designs and reports, developing strategies for the remediation and closure of large CERCLA and RCRA sites, evaluating site documentation for compliance with federal, state and local standards, report writing, and oversight of field investigation/remediation activities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in geotechnical engineering, geology, hydrogeology
  • The ability to travel for emergency response (up to 25%) and to be on-call outside of regular work hours
  • Over 10 years of experience in a variety of environmental investigation activities, such as sampling, assessments, and document review and preparation
  • Project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource management
  • Excellent reading comprehension, communications and writing skills
  • Strong multi-tasking skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently and yet be team oriented
  • A valid driver's license, good driving record and be able to drive a company-provided vehicle as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A professional certification/license (PE or PG, preferred)
  • Extensive CERCLA and RCRA site experience
  • Extensive Superfund site experience
  • Up to date OSHA HAZWOPER training
  • Extensive knowledge of hydrogeological, geophysical, geotechnical, and environmental sampling/screening equipment, including its use, storage, maintenance and calibration
  • At least 21 years old and lawfully entitled to work in the U.S.
  • The ability to pass a background check to access U.S. EPA and Government facilities
  • A list of coursework and relevant training completed.
