Description

. Our TechLaw division is seeking an Environmental Laboratory Associate with 1-5 years of experience to support our government contract, including, but not limited to, preparation and analysis of environmental samples of different matrices (water, wastewater, soil, sediments, tissues). Strict adherence to laboratory standard operating procedures, waste management, health and safety policies and practices, and quality control requirements is required. On-the-job training will be provided. A bachelor’s degree in science or environmental studies with a demonstrated interest in science is preferred.

 

Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Performs sample digestion, analysis, and data reduction for Metals following Standard Operating Procedures, and Technical Directives
  • Preparation/Digestion of environmental samples for metals using Manual Hot Blocks, and Automated Digesters
  • Analysis of environmental samples for metals by Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES)
  • Preparation and Analysis of aqueous samples for Mercury by Cold Vapor Atomic Absorption (CVAA)
  • Preparation and Analysis of environmental samples for mercury by Direct Mercury Analysis (DMA) using Thermal Decomposition Amalgamation and Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry
  • Data entry into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Ensures that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes; and always acting in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Assures integrity, cleanliness, and security of system buildings and equipment

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree, or equivalent education and experience
  • 1-2 years’ experience using ICP-OES
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite of programs and other databases
  • Good written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, attention to detail and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment; flexible and quickly adaptable to changing priorities
  • Authorized to work in the United States, with ability to obtain and maintain state and federal security clearances
  • Must have the ability to lift a maximum of 40 lbs.
