Job Summary

Langan is seeking an Environmental Planner to join its collaborative team in New York City, NY. This individual will serve a key function in providing evaluation of a variety of land development projects and identifying procedural obstacles and resolutions. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team of top-notch professionals in a variety of geographic areas and regulatory programs, and to collaborate and learn from our multi-disciplinary team of site/civil, geotechnical, survey, and landscape architect professionals on landmark land development projects.

Job Responsibilities

  • Evaluate land development and other types of projects and client deliverables to identify procedural obstacles and resolutions, with respect to local land use/zoning regulations, and city/state environmental regulations;
  • Conduct analysis to determine environmental impacts and constraints of a development proposal, as per the City and State Environmental Quality Review (CEQR; SEQR) guidelines;
  • Prepare environmental documents, such as City and State Environmental Assessment Statements, Environmental Impact Statements, Determinations of Significance, Statements of Findings, and related documents;
  • Adhere to project timelines, conduct research, document findings, and prepare client deliverables, and coordinate input from project managers and staff level environmental planners;
  • Create maps and graphics using Geographic Information System (GIS) data and software, utilize AutoCAD (2D & 3D) and Adobe Photo Suite to prepare visualizations of planning properties; and
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Urban Planning or closely related field such as Environmental Policy; equivalent experience may be considered if degrees are in other disciplines;
  • AICP Certification a plus;
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience;
  • Knowledge of the local City Environmental Quality Review (CEQR) process and regulations, the City’s land use review procedures, and the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA);
  • Experience with CEQR Environmental Assessment Statements and Environmental Impact Statements as well as experience with ULURP is a plus;
  • GIS proficiency is a plus;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities; and
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment.

Base Salary Range: $102,000 - $129,000. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. This position is also eligible to participate in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm.
