Position Overview

This senior technical role provides direct support and service to the European regional management team, helping to understand sustainability frameworks and regulations and drive action to ensure that all three EU Sites are positioned to meet ESG obligations and Tronox sustainability ambitions.

This position will also function as the global SME for waste and co-products, leading the development of the global waste roadmap and chairing the global Waste CoE, ensuring EU waste risks are mitigated and Tronox’s global waste targets are met.

The position can be based near any of our European pigment facilities in Stallingborough (Grimsby, UK), Botlek (Rotterdam, Netherlands) or (Thann, France). There is expectation of travel to all European facilities. As part of a global team, connection and collaboration is required, which necessitates calls outside of typical working hours and also occasional international travel providing expert support in the area of waste management and co-products.

 

Primary Responsibilities

This role is accountable for:

  • Align global ESG ambitions with EU business strategy and plans 
  • Institute ESG governance processes at Regional and Site level
  • Understand short/medium/long-term EU policy and technology trends 
  • Coordinate the development of EU Sustainability Roadmaps for: GHG, Waste, Water and Nature
  • Operate as the Global SME for waste, leading the Waste CoE and managing associated R&D activities
  • Coordinate the development of the Global Waste Roadmap
  • Spearhead the development of new markets for waste and co-products
  • Deliver specialized global waste management training
  • Oversee EU sustainability investment
  • Coordinate the submission of EU ‘investment grade’ sustainability data for global reporting and disclosures
  • Develop EU Sustainability talent and build a sustainability mindset within the EU workforce
  • Conduct audits and assessments of business processes to monitor ESG maturity and to drive improvement
  • Work collaboratively with the global Sustainability team in support of global programs
  • Support the EU Supply Chain team to implement strategies and plans to reduce Scope 3 emissions 
  • Support the Commercial team to develop strategies that meet both current and future customer requirements
  • Support the EU Product Stewardship and R&D teams in the Safe and Sustainable design of products
  • Conduct sustainability advocacy across a wide range of stakeholders

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • You have extensive knowledge of industrial processing environments (chemistry) and understanding of circular economy and sustainability opportunities
  • You have substantial experience and record of achievements researching, developing and project managing industrial process improvements within a large complex organization
  • You will possess interpersonal skills to influence and coach at all levels and across different cultures and can demonstrate a collaborative and constructive approach
  • You will be curious and have a desire to understand and be comfortable directly supporting a range of stakeholders (e.g., operational teams, executive management, regulators, customers, suppliers, industry bodies)
  • You have high level conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • You possess outstanding business acumen and have the ability to lead significant change
  • You are flexible with your time and approach and willing to travel within the EU region and occasionally globally
  • You have obtained substantial knowledge of project management, risk management and stakeholder management and knowledge in training, development, and assessment
  • You possess a tertiary level qualification such as a Bachelor’s Degree (e.g., Environment, Science, Engineering, Chemistry) or higher
  • Highly regarded skills also include:
    • Post graduate expertise in sustainability management and demonstration of contemporary sustainability approaches to innovate and drive improvement
    • Fluency in Dutch and/or French a plus
