Job Title:    Environmental Health & Safety Manager

Job Summary:
 
An Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for developing and implementing health and safety plans, enforcing policies, assessing risk, and ensuring compliance with legal guidelines. They conduct training, investigate incidents, and provide recommendations for improvement, aiming to create a safe and compliant workplace environment.
 
 
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • The primary duty is to scan the workplace environment, identify potential hazards lurking in the shadows, and assess the risks associated with them.
  • Plan and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
  • Advises management on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
  • Plans, develops, and implements training for employees in worksite safety practices.
  • Maintains safety files and records.
  • Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Conducts post-accident investigations and prepares reports identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management.
  • Sets up and conducts training.
  • Works to develop, evaluate, and upgrade safety programs. (Keeps program current)
 
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent computer, communication, and training skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.  
 
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of five years experience in Safety and/or Safety Management
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
 
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to talk and hear to enable effective communication.
·         Prolonged periods working on the plant floor, sitting at a desk, and working on a computer.
·         Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
·         Vision abilities required by this job to read and write.
