Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for Planning students to join our Orange, California, (CA) office! This is not a remote position. 

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate has had exposure to environmental laws and regulations including California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and/or the Clean Air Act, and a passion for applying sound scientific research and judgment to guide our clients through the environmental clearance and permitting process. This role will consist of  preparing technical analyses in the fields of Air Quality, Energy, Noise, or Greenhouse Gas/Climate Change, utilizing state-of-the-art models, current scientific datasets, recognized guidelines and policies, and other relevant tools to solve some of the most pressing environmental needs of the day. 

 

Additional responsibilites are: 

  • Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across teams to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
  • Prepare quantitative analysis with accuracy and precision to meet applicable scientific and legal standards.
  • Develop fluency with the federal, state, and local regulations related to air quality, greenhouse gas, and noise, as well as Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards.
  • Communicate the methods and results of analyses to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Conduct site visits, including field noise measurements.

Qualifications

  • In the process of receiving a Planning Degree (Bachelors or Masters) from an accredited program by Spring 2024 in of the following majors:  
    • City and Regional Planning 
    • Urban Planning
    • Environmental Science
    • Public Health
    • Chemistry
    • Physics
    • Atmospheric Science/Meteorology
    • Or Other Related Major

Salary Range:

$74,500 - 78,000
