Description

Summary:

The EHS Coordinator performs a variety of development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and investigation/audit work in the area feed mills. The primary goals of the position are to ensure compliant working conditions, verify compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety requirements, prevent occupational hazards and injuries, and to help mitigate financial impacts related to incidents and claims


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support and facilitate the EHS systems processes and improvement events using methods of EHS culture-appropriate team building, team energizing, data gathering and analysis, and problem solving.
  • Undertake risk assessments and site inspections, identifying potential hazards, and determining ways of reducing risks.
  • Coordinate with Department Managers on facility deficiencies and periodic OSHA safety inspections checklist.
  • Assist in Investigating/recording incidents, accidents, complaints, and cases of ill health, as well reporting and total cost incurred by injury employee.
  • Assist with review of accidents and incidents which occur along with assisting departments with reporting the corrective actions. Contribute and implement the EHS Training Plans
  • Coordinate and present training programs in general EHS and facility training and/or specialty area (Monthly safety meetings and training courses for employees)
  • Making monthly trend chart presentations to groups of employees/managers
  • Responsible for coordinating and monitoring regulatory programs / changes and its applications and deficiencies are minimized and corrected
  • Promote facilities and employees ergonomic good manufacturing practices to mitigate potential work-related injuries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety, Industrial or related field education and/or related experience required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Environmental, Health, & Safety processes.
  • Knowledge on CAL/OSHA & OHSAS process and reporting, EPA, CUPA, Haz Mat.
  • Excellent communication (oral & written), listening, and interpersonal
  • Leadership, motivational, and presentation skills
  • Planning, organizational and time management
  • Good judgment and decision making
  • Effective in working both independently and in a team setting
  • Interact with all levels of the organization
  • Attention to details and follow-up
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the Internet.

Physical Demands

· Frequent sitting, use of computer, communication via telephone

· Ability to navigate an office environment.

· Ability to work in the field amongst the elements

· Job may require occasional travel within feed mills
