Description

The Geothermal Wellfield Engineering Internship is an exciting opportunity to learn about well construction and artificial lift in geothermal reservoirs. The successful candidate will assess the outcomes of historic pump installation practices and make recommendations for improved pump selection and installation. The candidate will also have the opportunity to study and apply well construction, completion, repair, and maintenance practices in the geothermal industry. 


Our full-time, paid Internship program runs for 13 weeks, from mid-May to mid-August 2024. This position will be based on-site at our Reno Corporate office and may include travel to geothermal plant locations. 


Responsibilities:

  

Geothermal Well Field Management

  • Review historical data and make recommendations designed to improve pump operating parameters for longevity, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Lead root cause analysis to identify the key factors which contribute to premature failure of well completions including casing, wellhead, valves, and pumps, and develop best practices to avoid similar factors in future iterations. 

Organizational Support

  • Develop a program to monitor and track pump parameters, identify key factors contributing to pump failures, and improve installations to maximize pump life.
  • Develop and steward installation and maintenance best practices for geothermal pumps.
  • Adheres to, supports, and helps enforce all company safety and environmental rules, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
  • Active undergraduate or graduate student in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Hydrology, Geophysical Engineering, or other related field. Expected graduation date in 2024 preferred. 
  • Knowledge of well construction, repair, and survey methods preferred.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles preferred.
  • Valid drivers license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to complete domestic travel, up to 25%.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills and ability to indirectly motivate others to a common goal.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficiently to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences including technicians, engineers, stakeholders, vendors, and partners.
  • Ability to utilize critical software for plant monitoring and modeling, as well as for project design, execution, and management. 

Location: 

  • On-site position based in Reno, Nevada.
  • Temporary housing stipend available if not currently located in the Reno, Nevada area.

Salary Description
$26.00 - $31.00
