JOB OVERVIEW

Prospect Park Alliance’s Visitor Services division creates exceptional visitor experiences at various Parks venues and concession locations, generating revenue to help support the care and stewardship of the Park. We are seeking a Manager, Concessions to oversee partnerships with concessionaires and vendors in the food and beverage program at locations including but not limited to: the LeFrak Center, Lark at the Park, Smorgasburg, Winner, and mobile food carts/trucks. The person in this role provides support for these businesses in the park, including monitoring contract requirements, as well as providing general administrative and fiscal support for the daily operations of the department. Reporting directly to the VP, Visitor Experience, this position also monitors developments in visitor experience at Prospect Park and will support in identifying opportunities for expanding and diversifying the Alliance’s earned revenues. 



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / KEY JOB OUTCOMES

Concessions Operations

  • Oversee relationships with food and beverage vendors and ensure that all concession facilities and operations are properly run, maintained, and provide an excellent customer experience. 
  • Support concessionaires’ and vendors for their contract periods including monitoring contract requirements, collaborating on marketing and promotion, assisting with security, deliveries, and other concerns as needed
  • Coordinate the identification and approval of new concessions and vendors by distributing RFPs, managing interview and award process to identify winning bids, and finalizing permits. 
  • Collaborate on maintenance and repairs for concessions facilities; coordinate with external vendors as needed for building systems maintenance and repairs ensuring they are done in accordance with historic preservation standards. 
  • Coordinate with NYC Parks Department and Health Department to ensure that all Park concessions,  including sub-licensed vendors, have proper and up-to-date licenses and permits and follow NYC Parks Department policies and rules.
  • Collaborate on oversight of operations and visitor experience at the LeFrak Center and other venues as needed 

Finance & Data Analysis

  •   Track revenue and spending in the Concessions budget in collaboration with senior staff and the Finance team
  • Collect and record payments from concessionaires and prepare income reports for Rentals and Concessions deposits, including Carousel income
  • Manage and monitor Concessions-related accounts receivable in accordance with contract terms. 
  • Assist with creation of monthly reports for revenue, receivables, and incoming commissions from vendors for the space rentals operation

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Hospitality or other relevant discipline 
  • At least 3 - 5 years’ experience in a managerial role in Hospitality, Retail, Visitor Engagement, or Business Development with a focus in Operations, Finance, or Project Management
  • A valid/unexpired NYS Driver’s License

COMPENSATION + BENEFIT DETAILS

  • Job Grade: 4- Managerial & Technical
  • Salary Range:  $67,000 - $72,000 
  • Work Hours: 35-40 hours per week, minimum
  • FLSA Status: Exempt

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Work is normally performed in an interior office setting which does not subject the employee to any  hazardous or unusual elements 
  • Requires operating a motor vehicle, and use of a desktop, laptop or video display terminal 
  • Requires routine physical movements with limited physical exertion (moderate need to lift, push, pull, carry, etc. up to 50 lbs.); may require special safety precautions, such as working around moving parts and/or machines
  • Requires communicating information with co-workers, stakeholders and/or the public; reading correspondence, instructions and/or technical documents; writing correspondence and/or reports and filling in form
  • Travel to various locations in the park as needed to carry out duties
