Job Description

Schneider Electric is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern or Co-Op for our Cedar Rapids, Iowa Engineering Design Center. This is open to a Summer or Fall 2024 start. We are seeking a motivated and talented Mechanical Engineering Co-op to join our team and contribute to exciting projects while gaining valuable hands-on experience.  The candidate will work in a cross functional team environment gaining exposure to a Fortune 500 company.

 

What will you do?

  • Collaborate with our engineering team to assist in the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and components.
  • Apply strong problem-solving abilities to analyze and troubleshoot mechanical issues, ensuring customer satisfaction through effective problem resolution.
  • Contribute to the creation of technical documentation, reports, and design specifications. Includes, but not limited to: 3D component modeling, 3D assembly creation, 2D drawing, and BOM creation.
  • Gain exposure to various aspects of electro-mechanical engineering projects and provide supports as required.

Who will you report to?

  • This position will report directly to an Engineering Manager

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Strong technical skills in mechanical design, analysis, and prototyping
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly technique
  • Familiarity with metal stamping, thermoset and thermoplastic molding processes
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, such as 8D methodology or Lean Six Sigma
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools (e.g., CAD, FEA, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work on-site in Cedar Rapids, IA for 4-6 months
