Description

The Sr. Manager Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) is responsible for developing strategic plans for the EHS department and driving a culture of excellence for the Ritedose environmental, health and safety policies. The Sr. Manager EHS ensures the health and safety programs comply with all local, state and federal regulations for the organization, the environment and the general public.


Responsibilities:

Lead in the promotion of culture of proactive safety and compliance across the organization and facilitate continuous improvement; drive the development and implementation of an employee training program focused on EH&S compliance and best management practices.
Develop, implement and maintain EH&S policies, procedures, programs, and compliance initiatives that contribute to employee health and safety and maintain compliance with environmental standards.
Develops and works collaboratively with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and local staff to develop and implement EHS components for its manufacturing facilities, consistent with corporate objectives.
Communicates compliance risks to law department and senior leadership in order to coordinate and execute effective management strategies.
Ensures all significant near misses, injuries, and safety events are investigated and abatement measures implemented.
Establishes a process to reduce incident rates and environmental impacts while reducing company costs (e.g., amount of workers compensation); establishes order of priority for EHS initiatives and drives their implementation in cooperation of department managers, safety teams, and other personnel.
Ensure Risk Assessments are completed for all API materials and procedures established for their safe handling during drug development work, laboratory testing and full-scale production activities.
Provide subject matter expertise in the safe layout design of facilities and equipment.
Ensure compliance with all OSHA Recordkeeping and Reporting requirements, monitor injury, illness and incident trends and provide expert analysis and reporting to Site and Corporate leadership as requested.
Own EHS budgetary requirements, departmental leadership and performance.
Maintain knowledge of current local, state, and federal agency safety, health, and environmental guidelines.
Follow Standard Operating Procedures, safety and health guidelines, and cGMP Guidelines.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in science, industrial hygiene or has certification from recognized safety/industrial hygiene organization.
Minimum of 10 years of safety experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Thorough knowledge of OSHA workplace safety and DHEC environmental standards.
Strong verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal and group skills with the ability to direct and exercise initiative of others.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
